Made for home

I heard it said today, “home is the embodiment of belonging, of comfort, of familiarity. It is more than a physical place we go. A longing deep inside, a tug, a pull towards something lasting, eternal”.  This resonated with me. I love being in my physical home. Home is a sweet place to rest, revive. To recover from a day of work, or even from work around the house in a favorite chair or on the couch. Surrounded by familiar belongings and the smell of home can flood my heart with comfort in an instant. Although this home holds so many physical blessings, there is also a home I find in the people I love. I find comfort, familiarity and a sense of belonging with them. They are my people, my tribe. One look, one word, one sound of their voice my world is suddenly better.  This other home, eternal home, tugs at my heart. It is a longing deep inside for belonging. To know and be known. Cracked Pots

I am reminded this week of one truth. I am a cracked pot. Yes, I would love to share how I have it all together but most of the time that just isn’t true. Why do we feel the need to show up to places in our lives with this having it all together attitude? It is okay to not be okay. As one who loves to cheer people up and encourage others, I have found this space I like to call holy ground. It is a space where someone bears their thoughts, feelings, and emotions. It is the most beautiful place to connect honestly and openly. A vulnerable space of grace. Listening from a place of understanding and acceptance, not to judge but rather love. To meet each other where we are, not where we wish we could be. In our humanity is where we find we are more similar than different.  Do you know the popular verse John 3:16?
