The Gift of Relationship.

Do you have a favorite robe you put on? How does it make you feel? Is it soft and comfy, wrapping around you, feeling warm and comfortable?

I have not a robe but a blanket I wrap up in at the end of the day. Its soft comfortable fabric makes me feel like it is time for rest.

Did you know that the Bible says that God clothes us with his robe? When we first believe in his Son, he wraps us in his robe of righteousness. What does this mean? It means we are now in right standing with our Creator. We are now called righteous. A right relationship, free to access him, free to talk with him. The veil has been torn and nothing in all creation can separate us from this relationship of love. How does this robe make you feel?

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. - Matthew 5:6 (NIV)

I am the righteousness of God in Christ. His blood bought this robe of righteousness for me and is given freely when I believed. I did not a thing to earn or deserve this but like any gift given can only be received or rejected. It is grounded in Him wanting relationship with me. He makes me right through his sacrifice. He covers me with this royal robe in that I can stand by faith in the One who saves me. My response can sometimes be to shun away as if to say I’m not worthy to accept this amazing gift.  This kindness, who can fathom? Trading something of unequal value for something of immeasurable value. So unclean and yet being cleansed from all unrighteousness. With the heavy robe gifted to me my correct response is praise and gratitude. As I learn how to praise under this robe of righteousness the more comfortable I become. Our right relationship grows and soon it fits a little more comfortably. Being one in relationship with my Savior and Shepherd who guides me, walks with me through the battles as I get to call him Abba  which in Hebrew means daddy.  I love him because he first loved me and gave himself for me that I may become the righteousness of God.

What would be the one thing to do to become the righteousness of God in Christ?

Believe.

What would be the next step after believing?

Abide.

Continue in faith by believing in the One who made you right with God and see the goodness of God in the land of the living. Taste and see that the Lord is good, blessed, happy are the ones who take refuge in the Lord.

Watch how the Lord will transform your heart, mind and soul from old to new.

Isaiah 61:10-11.

Psalm  34:8

With you and love you!
