When life doesn’t make sense, tune into your 5 senses.

I am coming to understand that not only do we experience the 5 physical senses of taste, touch, smell, sight and hearing but we also experience these senses spiritually.  In my quiet time with the Lord, I was reading Sarah Young’s devotional called Jesus Listens. She referred to the eyes of our heart being open to a kind of sight that leads to hope. Meaning, our heart, in a spiritual sense is where our desires flow from. It’s where we hope and dream and where our emotions are felt and flow from. So when we have eyes to see into our heart and what it is we are hoping for, it may lift our perspective of what is to come. Not just wishing and dreaming but being confident in what God has promised in his Word. Hope is the anchor that steadies our heart when storms come into our lives. Hope sees the future glory that will revealed after the storm.  Then there is faith. Faith comes by hearing, hearing the Word of God. Which leads me into the next sense of hearing. What are you h...

Be. Believe. Become

I have recently been on a journey of becoming a life coach. I am currently a Dental Hygienist of 30 years and have found this career to be greatly rewarding. For those who are closest to me know that as I am getting older, my physical body is, as I define, generally experiencing the wearing out phase of life. I say this with the utmost respect I have for my body, it has served me well but my hands are tired. As I gradually do less Dental Hygiene over the up coming years, Life Coaching Certification has become an interest and an endeavor for me. What I hope to continue is having deep, meaningful, relevant conversations that lead to honesty, vulnerability and a deeper sense of knowing oneself. To help myself and others grow and learn in life as we lock arms and become the best version of ourselves. Discussing and strategizing ways to overcome obstacles that are getting in the way of experiencing change. Leaving old habits and patterns behind, letting go of what was and reaching towa...

The Gift of Relationship.

Do you have a favorite robe you put on? How does it make you feel? Is it soft and comfy, wrapping around you, feeling warm and comfortable?   I have not a robe but a blanket I wrap up in at the end of the day. Its soft comfortable fabric makes me feel like it is time for rest.  Did you know that the Bible says that God clothes us with his robe? When we first believe in his Son, he wraps us in his robe of righteousness. What does this mean? It means we are now in right standing with our Creator. We are now called righteous. A right relationship, free to access him, free to talk with him. The veil has been torn and nothing in all creation can separate us from this relationship of love. How does this robe make you feel?  Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. - Matthew 5:6 (NIV) I am the righteousness of God in Christ. His blood bought this robe of righteousness for me and is given freely when I believed. I did not a ...

From Under to In

What does it mean to go from under to in?  Galatians 4:4-7 states that when the set had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a women, born UNDER the law to redeem those under the law, that we may receive adoption to sonship. Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son INTO our hearts, the Spirit who calls out Abba, Father. So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child, God has made you also an heir.  Let me help break this truth down. We who believe in the Son, have gone from UNDER to IN. Under law to In Christ. His Spirit now resides on the INSIDE of us which makes us  an heir. An heir to what? His Son, His Spirit, forgiveness and eternal life. All that comes with his Son, which is all goodness, truth and light. I don’t know about you but when I took hold of this my mind was blown.  Under Law, I am held by laws standards  but In Christ I am no longer bound by the law but to the Spirit. (Romans 7:4-6) What does this mean? How does this apply ...

Life is

Life is a gift.  It is not meant to be measured or explained but rather experienced.  How are you experiencing life right now? An outside in life? Where you have to go chasing everything to get what you want and need? Searching for fulfillment and satisfaction in empty things that don’t really fill or satisfy, only to still feel void of what we actually need and want.  The outside in life will keep you on the hamster wheel of going in circles, never progressing forward. It will wear you out and feel like you’re running for survival.  What thoughts keep you stuck on the hamster wheel? Fear, worry, doubt, lack of… you name it.  The inside out life is altogether a different experience of life. This way of living is setting out to give yourself permission to accept what you already have. What gifts, talents, strengths, and even weaknesses are working for you and from you? This is abundant living. Where you are already loved, chosen, accepted. Chosen to experie...

What are we?

I feel this at the forefront of my spirit today. What are we? We are human beings of course, but what exactly do we possess in this human state. We live in a body, we possess a soul and we are a spirit. The body we live in is physical, the soul we possess is eternal and the spirit we are is spiritual. These 3 dimensions are what makes us who we are. What gets me absolutely excited is that I am not any of these things on my own. I live, move and have my being in relationship with my Creator and in relationship with each other. I partner with Christ as he lives in my spirit to empower me by his Holy Spirit as I believe. What do I believe? I believe in his finished work on the cross. I believe He is who He says He is. He says, I am the great I am.  This God who is love, sent his Son in love, to die in our place so that we, if we believe, will not perish but have eternal life. That life is the light in all mankind. We are light because he lives on the inside of us. Just as a lant...

Treasures of darkness

I don’t know if you have ever wondered where God is in your painful experiences. If He is a good God then why all the heartache, trials and troubles? If He’s good then surely he will keep us who love him from evil, from going into dark seasons of our lives. This question pops up for me often but what I have found to be true is that He doesn’t keep us from experiencing hard things, but will most definitely be with us and be our help and guide while we are enduring hard things.  My willingness or unwillingness to surrender to his way, his will, does not change his goodness. This truth helps me live with unchanging confidence and hope. It is a constant that God is good and can be trusted. We live in a world where good and evil are known. This was not God’s intention. We know evil because God in his love gave us a free will to choose. He still does. In scripture he says, I set before you life and death, choose life. This knowledge we have of evil, this experience of darkness came...
